3 Tips to Feel Like Yourself Again

We've talked about this before in our Founder story, which is why we have to touch upon it again. It's the foundation to our brand at Ada Lip Beauty and it's what we believe in. Promoting and mastering the health of our own inner world is so important. People often run for external things to medicate their thoughts, but it really is just putting a piece of scotch tape over a leaking ceiling. It's going to bust down any second. It's just a matter of time.

We have to face ourselves, and to do that we must go inwards. We must face the ugly truths and mend ourselves.  There is no one else in this world who can do that, but yourself.

Here are 3 ways to face yourself and start your journey to healing your mind + heart.

  1. Journal - there's something about putting pen to paper. Materializing your thoughts into the real world. Sure, you can shell out +$100 to see a therapist, but they're going to ask you the questions you eventually ask yourself in your journal. This way is free and totally private. Write down anything that comes to mind. Even if it's just "I don't know what I'm doing." You can fill up pages of that if you want, just get something down on paper. Before you know it, you're journaling about day to day events. Random thoughts will pop in. It doesn't matter. There are no rules, just jot it down.  Journal first thing in the morning after waking up or before going to bed. After awhile you're going to start noticing patterns in what you write...patterns in your thought process...patterns in your habits. Then you'll be shook. "I'm really like this?" You'll ask yourself.  Your thoughts will show you the way and the answers are already within you.
  2. Practice gratefulness - not just for regular things we always say, like a roof over our heads or a job. Everything! Be grateful for every little thing, like your favorite coffee mug, how smooth a pen writes, the throw blanket you snatched on sale. Everything! You’ll start to see how incredibly lucky you are.
  3. Seek solitude in nature - we don’t know what it is. Maybe it was quarantine, who knows. In April 2020, when things were shut down and everyone was afraid to see each other, our founder would go on long solo runs along the river. The city built small parks and greenery along the riverfront. After she runs, she would sit under a tree and stare into the water. It was springtime. The flowers were starting to bloom, the trees would gently wave back and forth in the wind, the water glistened in the sunlight. She would stare mesmerized into the sunset, take off her shoes and just feel the grass with her toes. These sessions would leave her re-energized and at peace.  The point here, if you’re feeling stressed or your mind is troubled, take a step outside. Open the window, breathe deep. Enjoy Mother Nature. When you do this, you take a moment to reconnect with yourself. Step away, take a walk, put some music on outside. You’ll feel so much better.
